Whitney Houston is known as the best selling artist of all time selling over 20 million records worldwide. She was born to a musical and gospel driven family in 1963 in Newark, Jersey. At a young age, Whitney sang in church choirs where her mother continued to train her.
The singer was signed by music mogul, Clive Davis, to Arista Records in the early 80s. Her single, Saving All My Love for You, gained her international recognition reaching Number 1 in both the UK and US. Through to the late 80s and into the 90s, Houston generated hits after hits such as I Wanna Dance With Somebody, So Emotional, The Greatest Love of All, and her most famous single from The Bodyguard soundtrack, I Will Always Love You.
She has had 7 albums to her name, 2 Emmy awards, 8 Grammys and 16 Billboard Awards.
Although she sadly departed in 2012, she is still considered one of the most influential female vocal musicians of the 20th century.
