Some three years before ‘Cave Painting’ appeared, Banksy staged an ‘intervention’ within the hallowed walls of the British Museum, during which he hung a home-made piece of prehistoric rock art that featured an early human pushing a shopping trolley. He later returned to the same theme for this larger piece of street art finished on location in the under-pass known locally as Banksy’s Tunnel  due to it having been the location of the street-art summit ‘the Cans Festival’, headed by Banksy himself. By the end of August 2008 it had been painted over.
